AW: [Geoserver-users] java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

Dear Miles

I shut the GeoServer down, executed the "chmod -R 777 geoserver" on the entire geoserver directory, started GeoServer again: Same behaviour and error messages as before, nothing improved! Does not seem to have anyting to do with security... ?

Regards, bd

... I keep obtaining error messages alike in the attached textfile
(log from a short session calling the demo WMS page
http://syringa.ethz.ch:8080/geoserver/data/demo/popup_map/index.html).

Just an idea... Internal server errors are often caused by incorrect file permissions.

You could try "chmod -R 777 geoserver" (the geoserver directory) and see if that works. Of course you should set more appropriate security later.
