Mapgen stuff is probably best compiled with the gcc compiler.

Actually, that's what I've been using The question relates more to
the libs that gcc wants to links with, of which I can find nothing in the
source distribution (-lccal -lcal -lF77 -lU77 -lI77 from the Make_Cal
script).
I may give her a call anyway though; thanks for the info
