Any suggestions.
Have a look at s.surf.tps (maybe also r.surf.contour, or r.surf.idw
if you're really desperate...)

You can use v.in.sites to convert your contours to sites file
and then s.surf.tps to create DEM.
(I also have a working version of v.surf.tps but it hasn't been released yet,
so you'd have to wait until it's released.
