well, sorta (this question just came up recently).
The environment variables XDRIVER_HEIGHT and
XDRIVER_WIDTH control the size. If there's a certain
size that you always prefer, you can put these
in your ~/.grassrc file. Here's mine:

I'll bet that man page diffs and/or additional documentation will be
