v.digit binaries for Linux 2.0 (ELF) and GRASS 4.1.5
----------------------------------------------------
FTP site: brule.forsci.ualberta.ca
Directory: /pub/linuxgrass
Files: v.digit, v.digit.note, ccdbII6_16
The v.digit program in this directory is a GRASS 4.1.5 binary, compiled
for Intel Linux, on a computer running Linux 2.0, with the ELF libraries.
The "file" command returns the statement
v.digit: ELF 32-bit LSB executable i386 (386 and up) Version 1
This v.digit works with a Calcomp digitizer in one of the ascii data
modes. I have a Calcomp DrawingBoard III digitizer, and select mode 6,
which is described in my manual as
Calcomp 9100-3
I use the digitizer description file in this directory, called
ccdbII6_16
I suspect I have corrected errors in the source to make this v.digit work
with any ascii digitizer format, provided the digitizer description file
is properly set up, and the digitizer binaries compiled. I leave those
details to you. I'm not sure I've fixed the source yet to work with
binary modes, but I might be able to get at that soon. Let me know if
they do or don't work with binary modes, if you get a chance to test this.
Installation
------------
1. Put the v.digit file in your $GISBASE/etc/bin/main/inter directory.
2. Change the permissions and ownership to be the same as the other
binaries in that directory.
3. If required, put the ccdbII6_16 file in your $GISBASE/etc/digitizers
directory. Change the permissions and ownership as required. Add a
correct description of this digitizer to your $GISBASE/etc/digcap
file. See the GRASS installation guide for more information on
defining and setting up your digitizer.
