Does anyone know anything about the way data is stored in the DMA and USGS
data formats?
What would be a good source of information on this topic?
I assume you are talking about DLG format from USGS. Get a hold of
the the Data User's Guide for whichever scale you are working with
(1:24k or 1:100k). They should be available from any of the USGS
offices - try 1-800-USA-MAPS and ask for the Data User's Guide.
