[GeoNetwork-devel] about FGDC and ISO

Ok… list I need your wisdom…

Some of you guys are working whit converting data…???

We want to convert FGDC to ISO 19115, but the ISO 19115 that use GeoNetwork… we are not so sure about this, but it seems that GeoNetwork is using his own version… we have a ISO 19115 that some labels are different…

Any way… but it’ll be great if some of you have something that can help us in here…

The main question is: Is a way to convert FGDC to ISO 19115 (geonetwork)???

And how???

Saludos…

Yes

Well possible since the ISO 19115 we use(d) in GeoNetwork until now was the version with small element names. We have not gone through the process of changing that into long names as we were waiting for ISO 19139 to be released. We have now used the latest release of that standard, which uses 19115 with long names.
I reckon that FGDC has been working on an FGDC to ISO 19115/19139 conversion (not sure if it is ready yet). Once that is ready, it could be included in GeoNetwork to allow a straight import (hopefully) from FGDC into ISO.
By copy I hope Doug Nebert can give us an update on that.
