Yes, I’ve already uncommented that section.
I didn’t set the context for either GN or geoserver previously and they worked fine. So, it should not be a problem. But for the sake of debugging, I now set it up like this:
I read the documentation and I don’t think it has something to do with the data structure. Not much differences. However, after comparing some conf files, I think it’s better not to replace them with the same files from new geoserver. In the end, I just replace the data folder and all classes at classes/org/geoserver. Still, I got HTTP 404. I don’t change any of the conf files (struts-config.xml and all), so tomcat should find “the requested resource”.
Have you (or has anyone) successfully done this?

I would say that you have to change your GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR- do not mix it because your data may break. Did you read the documentation site for data structure at geoserver?
Did you set context for your Geoserver 2 at server.xml?
best regards

Hello,
No, I can’t access Geoserver via either tomcat or localhost.
I didn’t change any path to new geoserver because I simply copy paste the files located in the same folder from new geoserver. And I just found out that web.xml at both apps have different content, at least in GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR section. But it didn’t change anything though. I got HTTP 404: The requested resource () is not available.
Here is the error log (which leads me to think that I can’t just copy paste)

Hi,
just few questions:
Did you see Geoserver 2 starting? Are you able to access it via tomcat/localhost?
Did you change your path to new geoserver at some .xml files?
Did you get any errors at logs?
best regards
Sarah

Betreff: [GeoNetwork-devel] Any update - upgrade GeoServer from 1.7.3 to 2.0 in GeoNetwork 2.4.2
Hello,
I use Tomcat 6 and Geonetwok 2.4.2. I had problem with creating coverages service in GN Geoserver (which I also asked at the respective mailing list). I googled this and assumed that it requires a patch, or an upgrade to newer version.
Referring to previous thread, [GeoNetwork-devel] Is it possible to upgrade GeoServer from 1.7.3 to 2.0 in GeoNetwork 2.4.2 by Mark Parnell and Sarah Schuessler. Has anyone really tried and succeed at this? I’ve tried merging geoserver dir at tomcat/webapps wit the new .war file from Geoserver, but it doesn’t work. It doesn’t even load the page.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
