Hi Ian,
Thanks for your comment. Yes it can be used to hide something that is
mandatory but no it wouldn't break the ISO 19115/19139 mandatory requirements
as long as that mandatory field was the one that contained the statement:
<$elemetName gco:nilReason="withheld"/>
Thanks.
John

Subject: RE: Can GeoNetwork hide content of the XML elements
to the public [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]This certainly sounds like a good idea John, but would it break (or
potentially break) the constraints of 19115 and the ANZLIC
Profile? That
is, could it be used to hide something that is mandatory? If
so, I think
that we would need to be very careful about how it is used.Ian

Subject: Can GeoNetwork hide content of the XML elements to the public
[SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]Hi All,
We have a situation where we want to include some information in the
metadata, such as a person's name, but we don't want that
information to
be
seen by the public for, let's say, privacy reasons.Does GeoNetwork allow editors to hide the content of elements to the
public? If not, I notice that there is an attribute called
'gco:nilReason' which
can
have a value of "withheld". Maybe GN could be configured so
if it found
an
element with the gco:nilReason attribute value equal to
"withheld" then
all
the content of that element and its subelements could be hidden. Is
this a
good idea? Is it easy to configure?Surely someone else has had this need.
Thanks.
