[GeoNetwork-devel] Cannot find branch for geonetwork release 2.7...

Hi,

I’m currrently developing a WIS service based on geonetwork 2.6.4 source code and I would like to integrate the latest 2.7… release, as it appears to have many improvements.

(1) Maybe I’ve missed something, but I’m pretty fuzzy about how/where to get the source code for release 2.7… as I cannot find the branch 2.7 on the svn repository, nor a tag “2.7…” in the pom.xml files. Thus, the trunk has “2.9.0-SNAPSHOT”, while available branches are 2.1, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8…

(2) By the way, in my knowledge (and following the informations from the “official” GNOS web site), the “current release” to download is still 2.6.4… Is there a plan to upgrade it to 2.7…2.8?

Could someone help, please?

Many thanks,
Victor

Victor,

2.7 was the development trunk for the 2.8 release. The 2.8 branch is
currently on it's first release candidate so hopefully, a new 2.8 will be
released soon. As 2.8 is soon to be released, 2.7 changed to 2.9 on the
trunk as the next development for the future release.

The repository switched from subversion to git a couple months ago so if you
want to get the latest source checkout the following url.

2.7 was the number used for development version, before creating 2.8.x branch.

After created 2.8.x branch (the next stable version, that is now in RC phase), trunk version numbers were updated to 2.9.x.

Trunk should have odd numbers, while branches for stable versions have pair numbers.

A stable release is never created from trunk, but from the related branch, so should have a pair number (seem an exception old 2.1).

2.8.0 is in RC phase, after this should be released as stable. No clear when will happen the release, as was only published RC0, but I think at least 2 more RC should be released.

Could someone help, please?

Many thanks,
Victor

Great, thanks a lot!

Is svn still synchronized with git? Is there a deadline to abandon svn for
git?

Hi Victor

SVN in no longer synchronized with Git, since the migration in June we’re developing against Git.

The SVN repository was keep as a backup, in case of any issue with Git, but should not be use.

As far as I can tell, virtually all commits are done in GIT now. SVN is pretty out of date at this point.
