Dear PSC members,
A proposal to add support for Composed Metadata Records (mainly those that can be constructed from a WFS harvester) to GeoNetwork trunk (2.5 Unstable) is available at:
http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/wiki/ComposedMetadataRecords
The main motivation and aim of this proposal is to support metadata records composed from data in relational databases via a WFS interface/harvester. There are many other uses (and associated complex issues) that this work could be used for - these are not intended to be addressed by this proposal (see future work section for some of these).
No patch attached but all functions are in the BlueNetMEST sandbox (except the scheduled XLink cache clear and index rebuild for records with XLinks in System Configuration menu) and take note that none of this is switched on unless you choose to enable XLink support in Administration->System Configuration!
Thanks to all contributors: Jesse, Francois and Craig Jones (IMOS eMii) in particular.
Cheers,
Simon
+1 for me.
I've been using the latest XLink resolver available in Bluenet in the
GeoSource sandbox as well. It's used to link two types of elements :
* keywords from SKOS thesaurus (basically same UI as in trunk but
having an option to add keywords using an XLink or not)
* contacts from a responsiblePartyCatalogue stored in an XML document
which could be edited from the admin interface

Dear Simon,
The proposal adds a nice new way of supporting composed metadata records from xml fragments. Thanks for you extra explanation to me on the expected use and impact on the GeoNetwork software!
+1 from me
Ciao,
Jeroen
