[GeoNetwork-devel] CFV : Create a sandbox for GUI Widgets

Dear PSC members,

A proposal to ask for creation of a sandbox in order to work on new
GUI components in order to easily build new GUIs based on GeoNetwork.

Widget examples, documentation and a sample application are available
in the proposal description. Current work is in beta stage, so
comments and contributors welcomed.

Hi Francois,

+1 from me. Nice proposal and nice work so far!

I would really like to see us work closely together on getting these components integrated into one common GUI for GN v2.8. We can then collaborate on the development of the components and avoid duplication of efforts. Also avoiding new features in the general GUI that are missing in the individual components or vice versa.

Can we discuss the best way to develop these components in the future to avoid them sitting in a separate location for long? The sandbox should have a short life according to me. Maybe some two months maximum (after FOSS4G2010 for instance).

Cheers,
Jeroen

I agree but maybe we all not have resources in the coming 2 months to
look and optionnaly contribute to the sandbox. At least, it could be
nice to have people have a look and check if that's a good way to go
(that's more or less what we do in the new map viewer).
It's good to have FOSS4G soon so we could probably spend some time
together (for people who will be there or by IRC for others) and maybe
decide if it's a good option for GeoNetwork 2.8 or not.

Cheers.

Francois
