[GeoNetwork-devel] CFV / Metadata editor

Dear PSC,

Here is the proposal for the new metadata editor based on AngularJS https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/wiki/Refactoring-editor

It also includes the directory manager and some fixes & improvements in the administration UI.

Looking forward to your votes.

Thanks.

Florent & Francois

Dear François,
This is a really nice proposal and work. Definitely a +1 from me.
Cheers,
Jeroen

Hi Francois

The proposal looks really good and also hope that makes easier the developments/customisations related to the metadata editor in GeoNetwork.

You have the +1 from me, but 2 things to clarify:

  • The new developments only supports IE from version 9. Users that have old versions of IE will be able to use the 2.10 widgets UI? Just to be sure there’s an alternative as in many organisations users can decide to upgrade the software easily or even use XP (even if unsupported  that only allows until IE8.

  • How affects to the existing custom metadata profiles developed (like for example the profiles in https://github.com/geonetwork/schema-plugins)? Are required any changes? In that case, are there any guidelines for the migration?

Regards,
Jose García

Apologies, in my previous mail I did a typo, should be: as in many organisations, users can’t decide to upgrade the software easily

For the time being the widget editor is still available from the metadata contextual menu in other actions. I’ll add a JS settings to have it on the menu or not.

Just to be sure there’s an alternative as in many organisations users can decide to upgrade the software easily or even use XP (even if unsupported  that only allows until IE8.

Yes.

In that case, are there any guidelines for the migration?

I made the exercise last week for iso19139.fra and for simple schema it consists of configuring the layout.
For this schema all is delegated to iso19139 so it could be a good starting point for others.

Cheers.

Hi Jose,

Settings added to enable Ext and/or Angular editor.

If there is no other comments, I’ll probably merge it to develop branch today.
