[GeoNetwork-devel] CFV: Metadata Relations - extended to siblings via aggregationInfo

Dear PSC Members,

There is a proposal to extend the metadata relationships in GeoNetwork to include siblings using the aggregationInfo element at:

http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/wiki/MetadataSiblings

A patch is attached to the proposal.

Thanks in advance for your time and your vote,
Simon

+1 for me Simon.

At some point, we should maybe add some more criteria (eg. category)
to the metadata related selection popup because when the number of
records increase the full text search is sometime not enough.

It seems to me that now there are two ways to add relationships. One is at the top of the edit page parent/child relationship, feature catalog, service metadata. And now there is another option to go to the aggregationInfo element and add more relationships there. Shouldn’t one be able to also add the aggregation via the “relationship” section of the editor?

Other than that criticism, I like the proposal. Good work!

Actually parent-child relationships are added in the same way as we're proposing you add sibling relationships: through the advanced editor. The 'Add or update parent metadata section' at the top of the edit page advises you to go to ISO>Metadata tab and do the relationships from the parentIdentifier element, but yes we could add easily put a link providing similar advice (ISO>Identification) for the sibling relationships in that section of the edit page eg. under 'Sibling metadata' we would have: 'Add or update sibling metadata section' - I'll do that as it keeps everything about relationships referenced from the same place.

Cheers,
Simon
