[GeoNetwork-devel] Comment/vote for Hierarchical Facets Support proposal

Hi All,

We've done some work at http://www.imos.org.au to include a hierarchical facet searching capability in our GeoNetwork 2.10 instance.

We've been using this functionality in our production system for some time now and we think this would be useful functionality to include in core GeoNetwork. In particular our faceted search had become difficult for an end user to navigate due to the long list of possible values which were displayed in each facet, and this has now been reduced to a simpler tree based drilldown to values of interest (refer https://imos.aodn.org.au/imos123/home) driven behind the scenes by lucene hierarchical facets functionality/GeoNetwork classification system support.

We have now fitted these modifications to a fork of the GeoNetwork develop branch and I've prepared a proposal and pull request which describes/shows what we'd like to incorporate into core (Refer https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/wiki/201411HierarchicalFacetSupport).

This request is ready for review, comments and/or inclusion (voting). Can you please review/comment/vote as applicable.

Thanks,
Craig Jones

+1 for me Craig.

About the client side, we may have funding here next year to progress on that and also on managing keyword relations in the admin interface.

Cheers.

Thanks Francois!

Can other PSC members vote on this proposal please.

I'm unclear at the moment whether this is just not desirable for core in its current form, whether there are issues that need to be resolved before it can be merged or there is just some confusion as to whether voting is required.
