[GeoNetwork-devel] Current trunk/master nightly build outdated

Hi,

I noticed that the nightly builds for the trunk/master don't seem to contain
the latest changes.

Example the following file was modified on Jul 16

    core-geonetwork/web/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/config-lucene.xml

If I download and unzip the latest trunk war file
"geonetwork-trunk-2012-07-25.war" and compare config-lucene.xml to the
following file.

   WEB-INF/config-lucene.xml

they should be the same. But it does not contain the changes that were
performed on Jul 16.

I did the same test with the 2.8 branch and it seems up to date. - (I have
not tested the other branches)

Could someone look into this.

Thanks.

I just checked today and the issue is still there.

I also noticed that the 2.6 and 2.8 branch have stopped being created since
around Jul 26

If making some changes to the nightly build process, may I suggest that you
change the name of the files for the branch builds. Both the 2.6 and 2.8
branch builds use the same naming. On occasion I download the 2.6 branch and
forget to rename the file then later I get confused as to what branch I
downloaded and need to download it again to make sure I have the right one.
I would suggest that instead of simply using "branch" in the name, to use
something like "branch_2.8.x" - "2.8.x" being the branch name.

Thanks

Hi Ian

Apologies about this, but quite busy with a project and can’t manage to fix this. Will try to check and fix this weekend.

Hi Ian

Finally fixed the nightly builds at least for 2.8.x and trunk.

For 2.6.x seem some problems in Git with submodules (installer submodule for example seem not 2.6.x version, but trunk version), so doesn’t build installer. Checking to solve it, but at least 2.8 and trunk should be working properly now.

For branches used version number so it’s clear about this (thanks for suggestion): geonetwork-install-branch28-2012-08-15.jar

Did this ever get fixed?

How is the 2.6.x built at all?

Hi Terry

The nightly builds were fixed, I notice now that installer for 2.8.x branch seem not updated, but war is created. Will take a look to check whats the issue with installer to fix.

Related to 2.6.x, seem that branch is not ok at all in GitHub, the last time i tried to build seem some of the files are from trunk, a bit bizarre.

Will discuss with other developers, maybe the best is to recreate this branch from SVN code.

I will try to find some time to work on the 2.6.x branch since I would like it to build correctly. I have committed some changes to github that are not in subversion. I can’t give a time line, I don’t imagine I will have time before next week.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the update.

We have a bunch of users on 2.6.x and I was seeing some patches to fix outstanding tickets and wanted to get a build available for our testers.

Jesse,

I copied the code from 2.6.x subversion onto the 2.6 branch of each
submodule and made a pull request.

Unfortunately, it still does not compile - I get some errors with the gast
compilation.

   [INFO] Compilation failure

/geonetwork/gast/src/main/java/org/fao/gast/gui/panels/config/siteid/MainPanel.java:[82,24]
cannot find symbol
   symbol : method createResource()
   location: class org.fao.gast.lib.ConfigLib

However for those who are using a war, it does create the file
./web/target/geonetwork.war

I also tried to compile the latest 2.6 branch from subversion and also had
some issues. So it looks like it may require some debugging.... - hopefully
nothing too serious...

Enjoy

I have committed all your pull requests now, thanks for all the work you have done. I still need to do more testing and fix the issue you mentioned with gast. But certainly the branch looks to be in much better state.
