[GeoNetwork-devel] Develop and stable-develop

Hi,

Do we have a plan for merging this two branches and remove stable-develop?
Do we have a list of requisites to be able to merge?
Does anyone have dates/deadlines requirements (to be fulfilled
before/after merging)?

Because I think that we shouldn't keep this two branches separated for
much longer. We will end up having inconsistencies. And with the
developments of CamptoCamp on the new UI, we can start thinking on
releasing a version 3 alpha, right?

Regards,
María.

Geocat.ch will be directly on Develop, however it has some issues that I still have to work out. For example local xlink resolution is broken and I think some pages don’t seem to be fully functional.

I will continue to merge fixes back to develop as I find and fix issues.

That said we are planning to be done in December, that include metadata viewers and the search UI. So a few months after that we could probably do a Geonetwork V3 alpha release.

Hi,

Do we have a plan for merging this two branches and remove stable-develop?

I regularly try to merge stable-develop in develop and I will continue to maintain stable-develop and apply minor fixes to it. stable-develop is deployed in a number of places and is the reference for GéoSource 2.11.x series. A coming GéoSource 2.11.1 is planned in october.
If the naming is the issue, we could also rename it to 2.11.x or 2.12.x (even if we don’t make any GN release ?)

Do we have a list of requisites to be able to merge?

All fixes applied to stable-develop should be merge to develop I think. Like probably most of the one applied to 2.10.x ?

Does anyone have dates/deadlines requirements (to be fulfilled
before/after merging)?

Because I think that we shouldn’t keep this two branches separated for
much longer. We will end up having inconsistencies.

AFAIK, all fixes applied in stable-develop are in develop. The main differences are:

  • old services (eg. admin, main.home, …) are removed in develop
  • Spring MVC is added in develop
  • Schema plugins are maven modules.

Cheers,

Francois

And with the
developments of CamptoCamp on the new UI, we can start thinking on
releasing a version 3 alpha, right?

Regards,
María.

I think most of the issues are related to the spring MVC change ? as local
xlink are working fine in stable-develop.
