I just noticed a firebug error loading ext-lang-eng.js. Looking at the
scripts folder it was attempting to load from I noticed that all of
the locale scripts for ext still have a two-character language
extension, rather than the three-character extension now being used
everywhere else inside Geonetwork.

Could you create a ticket with the page where you encountered this? And mention the version you are using because we are still in the process of tracking down all instances of this. If it is blocking you a quick fix is to add a rule in the rewrite rules in geonetwork for those files.
