Hi,

Can anyone help me to deploy Geonetwork 3.0 on my windows desktop. I would
like to have an idea about the new figures/topics coming up with this new
stable version.

In fact, I have downloaded from github the entire repository into my
Apache server but I didn’t find how to launch the application.

Looking forward to receiving your support!

Hi Hamdi,

To be able to run geoNetwork, you have to install maven on your computer:
http://maven.apache.org/guides/getting-started/windows-prerequisites.html

Once you have maven, you can run it on the root folder of the repository:
"mvn package install -DskipTests"

That will compile and build geoNetwork. To test it, you can run again maven
on the root folder:
"mvn jetty:run"

And geoNetwork will be waiting for you on http://localhost:8080/geonetwork

Good luck,
María.

Hi Maria,

Thanks for your answer.

I’ve followed your instructions, however the build task failed. Below, you can find the terminal message.

Do you know what’s the issue in there?

Well you need to find a way to set MAVEN_OPTS global variable on your system.
Maybe add a environnement variable into system settings wizard and restart your cmd. Or check how to set it into CMD relating to your OS.

good luck

You are right, the jetty:run command have to be made from the “web” directory, not the root folder. Does it work now?

Didn’t you have any errors in your console log before your jetty server is started ?

Well you need to find a way to set MAVEN_OPTS global variable on your system.

Maybe add a environnement variable into system settings wizard and restart your cmd. Or check how to set it into CMD relating to your OS.

good luck

Hi,

As written in the cmd window, you have to add MAVEN_OPTS for memory settings.

Copy the line under Cmd/Powershell in your command line, then try the build again.

Hi Hamdi,

To be able to run geoNetwork, you have to install maven on your computer:

http://maven.apache.org/guides/getting-started/windows-prerequisites.html

Once you have maven, you can run it on the root folder of the repository:

“mvn package install -DskipTests”

That will compile and build geoNetwork. To test it, you can run again maven on the root folder:

“mvn jetty:run”

And geoNetwork will be waiting for you on http://localhost:8080/geonetwork

Good luck,

María.

If you will have any other problems with jetty you can use tomcat server instead. It's a more reliable app server and it's better for production envs.
