[GeoNetwork-devel] geonetwork & deegree

Hi Markus,

How are you?
Did you also notice that we also included Deegree on the DVD with GeoFOSS that we printed and that can also be downloaded from the website? Not sure that's the same link you're talking about.

Yes, we did use Deegree in version 1 of GeoNetwork, but decided not to release the combination in subsequent releases because it was too involved for us to get a good integration in place.

I would like to see good connections between different GeoFOSS components and I would therefor invite you to discuss with us ways in which this can best be achieved. One thing that we have started discussing is what to work on for version 3 of GeoNetwork. A logical move would be to include GeoTools on our side and provide GeoNetwork services as resources through that API for instance. That may make it rather straight forward to achieve integration with Deegree as well as with e.g. GeoServer.

I copy this to the developer mailing list for their awareness and comments.

Let me know what you think!
Ciao,
Jeroen

Hi Jeroen,

we were happy to find a reference to deegree at your website and it seems that (at least in your 1.x release) a deegree component was part of geonetwork. I think that geonetwork and deegree share a number of aims and technological approaches. What do you think about some more cooperation in the future? Usage of deegree components in geonetwork is a thing we would really like to see more of.

best regards,

Markus
