[GeoNetwork-devel] GeoNetwork v2.1.0 alpha-2 and PostgreSQL

Hi André,

I already answered to you in the users list. As a general suggestion,
to try the latest version, you can checkout the code from SVN and
use GAST to create the database. With GAST it is very simple to
create the database schema and it already has postgres as an
option.

Cheers,
Andrea

Dear Andrea Carboni

For an international research project, we are intending to set up a DBMS at the moment. A few tests with Genetwork 2.0.3 in a Jetty/ MySQL environment went very well.
Today I tried the latest version with with an PostgreSQL-Database (Version 8.2.3). There occours the problem, that at the end of the installation of geonetwork, when the
JDBC tries to build up the tables inbetween the database, a failure message is given.
It says, Type "longvarchar" doesn't exist. and the creation of the tables stops. It seems to me, that this is a problem caused by PostgreSQL, because it doesn't know
variables of the type "longvarchar"!? May be you know that problem and it's solution?

Thanks you so far
