[GeoNetwork-devel] Geonetwork with multiple instances

Hello,

As we plan to deploy Geonetwork on multiple instance (elastic cloud).
Could someone give any news on issues detailed here : http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/wiki/MultipleInstancesOfGN

Is there any dev. or project in the pipe to move forward with this issue ?

Thanks to the list for any relevant information.

Regards,

Xavier Mérour

Hi Xavier,

Hello,

OK, thanks.

So next question
Is there any known workaround for issues 1 & 2 or the list (Lucene indexing & Database inserts) ?
We are only concerned by those two because we use GN as a CSW server (insert, fetch, edit and delete metadata). We do not use the GUI at all.

hi Xavier,

for Lucene indexing, you could maybe request the service “metadata.admin.index.rebuild” on the instances where the index needs updating, but it triggers a complete re-index so that might not be so great if you have a lot of metadata.

for the database inserts, I don’t think there is a work-around

In both cases you’d need to make some development effort I think.

Another scenario might be that you actually keep different databases for each instance, and let them harvest each other. This would remove issues 1 and 2 but introduces issues of its own, such as how to sync user and group definitions, and you could run into a harvesting delete loop (see http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/Harvesting-delete-logic-td4101665.html).

Let us know how you are going to tackle your requirements?

Kind regards

Hello Heiki,

Thanks for your answer and advices.

Well, yes, that was predictable

We will, as soon as we know how to do it . We need to dive more into Geonetwork to figure out how to answer this issue exactly.
We may come back to the list for some others questions…

Cheers,

Xavier
