I've used the GeoRSS feed in GeoNetwork to bring in the initial metadata
records into email clients, e.g., Outlook 2007 and Thunderbird. I've
discovered the following:
1) New metadata comes into the email client, e.g., I have a list of existing
metadata records, and when I add a new record in GN the email client brings
in the new record (once the email client does a send/receive).
2) An existing metadata item (as shown in the email client) is updated when
the metadata is updated within GN, e.g., I have a list of existing metadata
records; when I open one of the existing records that has been updated in
GN, the new information is displayed.
3) If I've deleted the previously displayed metadata records from the email
client, and then update a record in GN, that updated record is not brought
into the email client after submitting the send/receive in the email client.
Regarding Item #3, I would expect that for every edit (followed by save) of
a metadata record in GN, e.g., "roads" I would have a corresponding number
of "roads" entries in my email client whether the "roads" metadata was
already in my email client or not.
Perhaps I have something incorrectly configured in GN, in my email client,
or I am not understanding the use of the GeoRSS feed within an email client.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
