[GeoNetwork-devel] Geoserver forcing Xalan TransformerFactory and breaking Geonetwork?

Hi all,

My server fails intermittently with a stack trace as follows:

javax.xml.transform.TransformerConfigurationException: Could not compile stylesheet

at com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTemplates(TransformerFactoryImpl.java:825)

at com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl.newTransformer(TransformerFactoryImpl.java:614)

at jeeves.utils.Xml.transform(Xml.java:237)

at jeeves.utils.Xml.transform(Xml.java:181)

at org.fao.geonet.guiservices.util.Env.exec(Env.java:57)

……

You may note that the transformer is now Xalan, where it was Saxon.

I have found this note:

http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/TransformerFactory-problem-with-GN-2-4-2-and-Tomcat-6-0-18-td4519136.html

It suggests that the problem is bad behaviour by Geoserver, and can be fixed by installing Geonetwork and Geoserver into two different containers.

Does anyone have any further information that could confirm that my diagnosis is correct (or not).

Thanks,

Justin.

hi Justin,

this is quite possible. See trac ticket http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/ticket/387

I’ve made a fix to go in trunk and 2.6.x, likely. If so, it should be solved from 2.6.2.

Kind regards
Heikki Doeleman
