[GeoNetwork-devel] GN 2.1.0 beta1 Migration data process

Dear all,

We’ve recently installed Geonetwork 2.1 Server beta version. We have a platform with a big amount of data and metadata in our Geonetwork 2.0.2 Desktop release version. Does anyone know how is the exact process to migrate the whole data and thumbnail model from this previous version to the new version of Geonetwork?

We have tried to do this with the GAST tool by the Migration option but it seems it doesn’t work. First, the tool provides an “address already in use” error, and when we fix it changing the DBMS port from 9157 to another like 9200, the tool doesn’t provide any error message but the migration process doesn’t produce any result; there is no new data migrated in the Geonetwork 2.1.

Could anyone provide us support on this? Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Angel

Hi Angel,

when you use GAST to migrate an old installation both the old one
and the new one must be stopped (as GAST suggests with a stop icon).

You get errors because GAST is trying to start the old mckoi database
but the old one is still up and running so a conflict occurs.

Cheers,
Andrea

Hello Andrea,

Thank you for your prompt answer. Yes, I did it this way as it is described
in the [GEONETWORK_HOME]\docs\manuals\user-guide.pdf about using of GAST
tool. The two servers are stopped but the migration process did still not
produce any migration result. I click on "Migrate", then a "Migrating data"
message appears with 0% during a few seconds, and suddenly the process ends,
but anything is migrated in the new geonetwork when I restart it. Any idea
else?

Best Regards,
Angel

Hello Andrea,

I don't have any kind of data migrated. I've used Druid client to see DB
structure of GN 2.1 after the migration process and the tables remain
without any change.

Is there any log file where I can see the trace of the migration process?
I think that one problem I am having is that the GAST tool doesn't show me
any error message and neither does the Jetty console.

Regards,
Angel

Hi Angel,

try to run GAST using a Windows console you should see at least an
error message. Meanwhile, I'm trying to improve GAST's logging.

Hello Andrea,

I don't still receive any error message when I use the GAST in a Windows
console. It doesn't matter; I used the XML import service for importing
manually my storage. It was relatively quickly.

I have another question... now I want to export my metadata/data. When I use
the Export, the GAST produces many warnings:

17828 [Thread-46] WARN org.apache.commons.httpclient.cookie.CookieSpec -
Invalid cookie state: domain not specified

I don't know if this is really important, the question is that when I import
this set of exported data/metadata to a new clean Geonetwork 2.1
Installation, the GAST doesn't import anything and it outputs the following
error message: "File not found in info.xml : public"

The console error stack trace is the following:

2007-05-03 19:23:10,413 INFO [jeeves.request] -

Hi Angel,

try to run GAST using a Windows console you should see at least an
error message. Meanwhile, I'm trying to improve GAST's logging.

Cheers,
Andrea

Hello Andrea,

I don't have any kind of data migrated. I've used Druid client to see DB
structure of GN 2.1 after the migration process and the tables remain
without any change.

Is there any log file where I can see the trace of the migration process?
I think that one problem I am having is that the GAST tool doesn't show me
any error message and neither does the Jetty console.

Regards,
Angel

Hi Angel,

do you have users, groups, categories etc migrated?

Regarding metadata, GAST does not migrate records whose source
is different than the siteId of your installation. Those metadata are
considered harvested and are skipped.

Cheers,
Andrea

Hi Angel,

you can ignore the log error:

17828 [Thread-46] WARN org.apache.commons.httpclient.cookie.CookieSpec -
Invalid cookie state: domain not specified

Regarding the mef.import, it seems that the mef file is corrupted. Can you send
one of these corrupted mef files to me so I can investigate? Are you using GeoNetwork
on windows?

Cheers,
Andrea

Do you have any idea about this?
