Hi,

Is there any way to query the version number of a metadata record using the
id or uuid?

It is necessary to provide the correct version number to update an existing
record. Otherwise it throws a Concurrent update error.

Hi,

you may want to give a look at this project:
   http://code.google.com/p/geonetwork-manager/

It provides, among the other, operations to update a metadata and to retrieve
its version number.
It relies on GN capability to return the internal data without applying the
XSL transformations.
