[GeoNetwork-devel] issues with changing protocol for online resources

Currently while creating/editing an ISO-19115 record, if I have an online
resource with url, protocol and name (Name of the resource) I cannot change
the protocol without nulling out the name first. Otherwise I get an error "A
file may have been uploaded. You cannot change the protocol until you remove
that file"

I don't understand the relationship between the name and the protocol? Could
someone please explain.

Thank you.

I don’t know all the cases but I know that the name has meaning for certain protocols (this is a geonetwork specific thing I believe.) For example if protocol is file then it is the name of the file or some such. Thus when the protocol was file and is to be changed, the name must have been previously deleted (so the file is deleted), before the protocol can be changed. If you change the protocol before deleting the file/name then you will get an error. I think there may be other similar situations but I don’t know them all.

Jesse, I think this is the only custom case.
