[GeoNetwork-devel] No link to get back to home page if stuck in restricted area

I have noticed a couple of times that if you end up on a page which
requires extra privileges to access and you are no longer logged in,
there is no way to leave the page beyond retyping part of the URL. An
error box pops up saying to return to previous location. However, the
times I have hit this page are when I have not navigated there from a
more accessible page. It has typically been because I restarted the
server and then refreshed the page, or I closed the browser and then
on reopening had tabs remembered. In both cases there is no concept of
back to a safe location. There should at least be a link back to the
home page for the sake of usability.

I am surprised. Usually the header area has a link with home on it. What version are you using and could you provide a URL example?

I've opened a ticket on the same subject (I guess):

I am using 2.8 RC0. Try the following link
http://firedrake.gns.cri.nz:8089/geonetwork/srv/eng/metadata.show?id=4&currTab=simple
and note how there are no links anywhere apart from the button 'back
to previous page'. The entire nav bar area has disappeared.
