[GeoNetwork-devel] problems with ISO19139, service metadata with CSW

We’re working on implementing CSW services using GeoNetwork (also trying Deegree, and getting the ESRI CSW client to work), and have run into a problem with the various schema that are available. To summarize: what we need is a version of ISO 19139 that:

  1. Allows us to use GML 3.2.1, which is different and an improvement over the “cached” GML 3.2.0 that was used in the 2006 version of ISO 19139.
  2. Contains the service-related (ISO 19119) metadata elements that are in the SRV package (http://www.isotc211.org/2005/srv) of the 2006 version.

The details are discussed at http://lab.usgin.org/groups/csw-debug-blog/ogc-schema-issues-relation-csw.

The French group at EDEN (http://eden.ign.fr/xsd/isotc211) have identified the problems and solved them with a collection of bug-fix schema. Is there any consideration of creating a similar set of schema in the http://schemas.opengis.net repository or the http://standards.iso.org/ittf/PubliclyAvailableStandards/ repository to create a working set of schema, or can the EDEN schema be considered authoritative enough to use for production systems?

thanks

steve
