[GeoNetwork-devel] Proporsals for funding

Hi,

GeoCat is going to meet some GN customers at the end of November (one
month and a half from now aprox). The idea is to propose some ideas to
improve geonetwork so (we hope) they can fund some of them.

I would like to have between five and ten proporsals (priorized) ready
for mid November so we can show them and let them choose which ones do
they like better. We can use this to improve "invisible" things in
GeoNetwork, like going further on the spring integration or improving
the speed.

So, if you have any idea (or proporsal already written) it would be
good to know. I can write them and make them pretty, but I need
concrete ideas.

Regards,
María.

I assume someone will recommend something about a UI so I will leave that topic alone.

Idea 1:

Convert services and harvesters to plugins. Requires extending the spring work to define plugins for services and harvesters and break them out into separate modules. For services I wouldn’t split each out into a separate module but do some splitting like, statistics, region, thesaurus, etc…

Idea 2:

During Bolsena I started a branch for creating a framework that will perform advanced analysis of metadata and system and provide reporting detected problems along with a links that will assist in fixing the issue.

Consider metadata that are linked to a WMS server. One could enable a validation plugin that will validate that all the layers in the WMS are represented in the GeoNetwork and that all the layers in GeoNetwork are still present in the WMS. If an inconsistency is detected then it can provide links to fix the issue.

Much of the server side code is already written but testing needs to be completed and a UI is required. A couple of example plugins also need to be developed in order to validate the API.

I'm not able to find the exact branch you tried on. Is it on your github?
