[GeoNetwork-devel] Proposal: Additional metadata conversions

We are aware of efforts underway for GeoNetwork v3 to add support for
CSW ebRIM, but understand that it may be implemented primarily as a
server export option. GEOSS is already harvesting some ebRIM sources
(most notably, the Component and Service Registry) via CSW and
anticipate more sources to come. We propose to provide support for
harvesting and ingesting ebRIM into GeoNetwork collections.

Also, as needed, we propose to test and add support for FGDC and CSW ISO
metadata.

Yes, this is useful in the future and has been discussed before between developers during face to face meetings. We should discuss the details together and see who can do what.

I am curious about CSW ebRIM but was not able to find much documentation on specific implementations. What ebRIM profile is GEOSS using?

I'd go to http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/cat and look at

07-038 "OGC Cataloguing of ISO Metadata (CIM) using the ebRIM profile
of CS-W (0.1.7)" (http://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/?artifact_id=20596)

and

06-131r4 "EO Products Extension Package for ebRIM (ISO/TS 15000-3)
Profile of CSW 2.0 (0.1.9)"

in the GeoNetwork CSW ebRIM interface, we implemented support for OGC 07-110r2, OGC 07-144r2 and OGC 07-038.

Only “Level 1” is supported (discovery), so no Harvest and Transaction operations yet.

We did not implement the EO Products extension package.

For some more information see our FOSS4G presentation on GeoNetwork CSW ebRIM at http://geonetwork.tv/ebrim.

Kind regards
