Dear PSC members,
I would like to add some parameters in order to easily turn on/off
category on a GeoNetwork node. Default behavior will remain the same.
The complete proposal is available here [1].
Looking forward to your votes, Regards.

Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval
Try the new software tools for yourself. Speed compiling, find bugs
proactively, and fine-tune applications for parallel performance.
See why Intel Parallel Studio got high marks during beta.

+1 again from me Francois - nice!
Just a couple of related thoughts:
1. Internal categories comes close to something we've discussed here a few times but never gathered enough momentum or been able to sort it out from other ways of doing things: dynamic categories or predefined searches: where you would define a category based on a lucene search string so that when a category of records was required a predefined search would be executed (would be easy enough to add I suppose as an operation in the search results pane for example - define category based on this search) - the advantage being that records would automatically be retrieved for this category because they are part of the search without the user or admin having to assign them to the category manually.
2. Part of the Z3950 server enhancements we had in the BlueNetMEST (and (note to self) it needs to be checked in JZKit3 upgrade and in transfer to the trunk as per the Z enhancements proposal) was to map the Z3950 database name used in a Z search on the GeoNetwork server to a category - I doubt this will be affected by your proposal except that maybe the internal categories wouldn't be accessible to this?
Cheers,
Simon

For the time being, the idea is to make distinction between datasets
and services but we could extend the mechanism.

Probably, I've to check with Z search ...
