This email remained unnoticed I think… I’m sending the reply to the geonetwork-devel list so others may come up with much better ideas than mine!
For sure there is no existing integration with an informix database.
Maybe a metadata dump into some location accessible to GeoNetwork in XML form could be the quickest way. Work is underway to harvest from a remote (or local) directory (optionally filtering through an XSL and validating) and keeping the GeoNetwork node in sync with that directory.
