Hi all,
Today we’ve been putting together a lot of the stuff we’ve been working on or hope to be working on in the near future. All of this resulted in a draft roadmap towards a version 3.0 of GeoNetwork.
I would like to invite you to take a look at it and contribute to the further development of the roadmap.
What we did was to indicate in green, orange and red what the funding status of these ideas is, and to put very rough guestimates on the required man months of work to get these things implemented, tested and stable in square brackets.
The coming two days we will discuss a lot of this and other stuff at Geonovum in Amersfoort, The Netherlands with a group of developers and users of GeoNetwork. ( https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/wiki/GeoNetwork-and-INSPIRE-event-November-2013 )
Please read, review, add and suggest where you see fit.
Here’s the draft roadmap (at the bottom is an image of the paper version!):

We hope this will help GeoNetwork evolve even faster than it did in the past.
Kind regards, also on behalf of the GeoNetwork Developers,
Jeroen

Interesting roadmap!
When it comes to refactoring the SDE and filesystem harvesters I'll be happy to help if I can. For the SDE harvester we've already implemented some improvements in our fork on GitHub which I haven't gotten around to make a pull request for yet.
