[GeoNetwork-devel] [SPAM] Newbie introduction and map searchproblems

Hi Jeroen,

Thanks for your prompt answer.

We have download 2_0_FIX2 Geonetwork version as you suggested to us, but
we’re still having the same problem with search by westBL, northBL. We have
built this version and installed the resulting geonetwork-2.0.3-install.

However, when we introduce in the search request:

http://localhost:8080/geonetwork/srv/en/main.search?region=338
<http://localhost:8080/geonetwork/srv/en/main.search?region=338&northBL=38.2
&westBL=-17.3&eastBL=51.1&southBL=-34.6&relation=equal>
&northBL=38.2&westBL=-17.3&eastBL=51.1&southBL=-34.6&relation=equal

like FAO Web Site does:

http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/main.search?region=338
<http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/main.search?region=338&northBL=38.2&we
stBL=-17.3&eastBL=51.1&southBL=-34.6&relation=equal>
&northBL=38.2&westBL=-17.3&eastBL=51.1&southBL=-34.6&relation=equal

We don’t get any result. This request should match the sample product
“Hidrological basins in Africa”. At the Fao Web Site the matching results
seem OK.

Any idea on what are we doing wrong? We’ll also test the 2.0.3 release once
it is available.

Yes, Francois and Pierre in France are working on integrating thesaurus

support to both version 2.0 and later ported into 2.1 . That > should allow
to do a solid category browsing option. We will also be working on an
improved searching using keywords. Not

completely sure what that will look like, but it should inform the user on

related keywords to his initial search results and help

refine his search. If you have a good solution, input is welcome.

Well, in another project for ESA we have developed a service ontology using
OWL/RDF and we publish it using the opensource Sesame server
(http://www.openrdf.org/). We’d like to interface it somehow to geonetwork
to provide this functionality. Maybe François and Pierre can comment on his
approach to see if we can contribute in implementing this functionality?

Ciao,

Jeroen

Best regards,

Oriol

I don't know what is going on the FAO site but you cannot search both a
region and a BBox.
