[GeoNetwork-devel] wms

Hi

We are trying to build a geonetwork system here, and this is a link to somewhere on our system:

http://lv-ternan.fds.fo:8080/geonetwork/srv/fo/main.search?extended=off&remote=off&attrset=geo&any=myndakort&hitsPerPage=10

Somewhere in the middle of this page, there is a botton called “Interactive Map”.
When i click on this button i get the error:

“The requested operation could not be performed”

What have we done wrong or what is missing ?

Can anyone help ? or give some clue ?

Hi Petur,

The distribution part of tour metadata is not correct as well.
Try this way :
    <distTranOps>
        <onLineSrc> <linkage>http://www.kagi.fo/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=c:/heimasidur/Kagi/Data/Kortal.map</linkage>
            <protocol>OGC:WMS-1.1.1-http-get-map</protocol>
            <orName>Raster50cm</orName>
            <orDesc>raster ... </orDesc>
        </onLineSrc>
    </distTranOps>

But you should configure your web server (apache?) using a proxy path to hide
your map directory (for instance http://www.kagi.fo/services? )

I am sorry, but where should i put this ?:

We are using Mapserver as our WMS-server. Should i put this in the .map file
? Or somewhere in Geonetwork ?

We are using IIS as webserver.

It looks wrong Petur,

Delete the second paragraph, you just need to have one WMS protocol.
And the second one is not correct, the tag orName must be completed, it
corresponds to the layer name of your WMS layer (raster50cm in your case).
Moreover, in the tag linkage, you don't need to give parameter such as REQUEST,
LAYERS...

hello again, and thanks a lot for your help so far.

i want to ask one more question.

i am still trying, and hope to see a map from our wms server. When i am on
this site (popup):

http://lv-ternan.fds.fo:8080/geonetwork/intermap/srv/fo/mapServers.listServers

To the right of "Map Server" I choose "- Other WMS server (specify below)"
and to the right of "Specify if other:" i write
http://www.kagi.fo/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=c:/heimasidur/Kagi/Data/kortal.map

Then i get a very nice screen with information about all the data and
layers, and everything looks fine so far.
Then i choose some layers, and push "OK" at the bottom.
Than i get a nice screen where the map should arrive, but the image isnt
there - or, there is an image, but only with the x at the top left corner,
that means it cannot show the image.
Do you know what i have done wrong ? Can i see the error message anywhere ?

Hi Petur,

your WMS configuration is wrong. Indeed the Getcapabilities is ok but when you
perform a Getmap, there a Mapserver Exception which is :

<?xml version='1.0' encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="no" ?>
<!DOCTYPE ServiceExceptionReport SYSTEM
"http://schemas.opengeospatial.net/wms/1.1.1/exception_1_1_1.dtd">
<ServiceExceptionReport version="1.1.1">
<ServiceException>
msWMSLoadGetMapParams(): WMS server error. Image size out of range, WIDTH and
HEIGHT must be between 1 and 2048 pixels.
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport>

It looks wrong Petur,

Delete the second paragraph, you just need to have one WMS protocol.
And the second one is not correct, the tag orName must be completed, it
corresponds to the layer name of your WMS layer (raster50cm in your case).
Moreover, in the tag linkage, you don't need to give parameter such as
REQUEST,
LAYERS...

Hi Petur,

your WMS configuration is wrong. Indeed the Getcapabilities is ok but when

you

perform a Getmap, there a Mapserver Exception which is :

<?xml version='1.0' encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="no" ?>
<!DOCTYPE ServiceExceptionReport SYSTEM
"http://schemas.opengeospatial.net/wms/1.1.1/exception_1_1_1.dtd">
<ServiceExceptionReport version="1.1.1">
<ServiceException>
msWMSLoadGetMapParams(): WMS server error. Image size out of range, WIDTH

and

HEIGHT must be between 1 and 2048 pixels.
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport>

We are using Mapserver as WMS-server.
Does the geonetwork software support Mapserver ? Or is it only supporting
the ESRI wms-server software ?

Hi Petur,

your WMS configuration is wrong. Indeed the Getcapabilities is ok but when

you

perform a Getmap, there a Mapserver Exception which is :

<?xml version='1.0' encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="no" ?>
<!DOCTYPE ServiceExceptionReport SYSTEM
"http://schemas.opengeospatial.net/wms/1.1.1/exception_1_1_1.dtd">
<ServiceExceptionReport version="1.1.1">
<ServiceException>
msWMSLoadGetMapParams(): WMS server error. Image size out of range, WIDTH

and

HEIGHT must be between 1 and 2048 pixels.
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport>

Mathieu
