Hi Jeroen,
I have XP and JRE 1.6, and have never experienced any problem. Do you have
more specifics on the circumstances where this problem occurs?
My version of Java is :
C:\>java -version
java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
and I'm regularly installing GeoNetwork, both versions 2.1 and 2.2, always
choosing to import sample metadata.
Kind regards

Hi all,
We discovered, and had some people reporting a problem when installing
GeoNetwork opensource on Windows XP with Java 1.6 installed. A compile
stylesheet error occurs when inserting the sample metadata.
The bug has to be resolved before Final Release.
At the same time, there's a workaround:
Use the installer with embedded JRE. Do not install the sample
metadata (or, in any case just finish the installation). You can than
start GeoNetwork, and after that start GAST to import the sample
metadata.
To do that:
> open GAST while GeoNetwork is running
> set user name and password for the administrator (admin/admin by
default after installation)
> select Import > select the folder c:\program files\geonetwork\gast
\install\sample-data and click Choose
> select Import
After refreshing the browser, you should see the sample records.
Ciao,
Jeroen
