[GeoNetwork-users] Cannot enter year as a date using web interface

When creating a new metadata record using a ISO19139 template, the dates can
only be entered using the date widget. In some cases we only want to enter
the year but we cannot.
Also, if we enter a valid xml document into the system and then use the
editor to make small changed, the date widget changes all the dates - most
of the time it is changing the date to an invalid date. - ie. 2005 changes
to "2013-08-05"

Is there a setting to change this behavior? Or is this a bug?

Using 2.8 nightly build (2012-06-11)

Thank you.

Hi,

According to ISO 8601 a century is a valid date. However one can't enter
a century. eg. '19' for last century, '20' for this century. Can we
change the interface to allow a century to be added?

Thanks.

Hi Ian,

I have been testing GN trunk 2.8+ANZMEST and I get a related issue
i.e date like 2011-12-05T02:12:00Z is altered in XML to 1970-01-01T00:00:00,
date is start of the UNIX epoch I think.

I reported in ticket http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/ticket/960

Cheers,

Andrew

The issue seems to be related to the "Ext.form.field.Date". Is there a
setting in the widget to only allow it to select a date but not modify the
existing data. Or maybe there is an option/setting to turn this widget off?
It seems to be causing more issues than it is worth!
