[GeoNetwork-users] Can't edit Z3950 harvested metadata records even as "admin" user

Hi All,

First of all sorry for cross posting. I want to make sure that I get to
anyone who can help solve my problem.

Secondly, I have harvested some metadata from a Z3950 server. I want to
edit that metadata to make it valid and to correct an error in its WMS
link. I have successfully harvested the metadata but I can't seem to
edit it even as the 'admin' user.

I am using Geonetwork Version:2.7.0-SNAPSHOT with the following
configurations:

System configuration:
  Harvesting:
    Allow editing on harvested records "Checked"

Harvesting management:
  Edit [harvesting site]
    Validate "Checked"
    Group viewed interactive map featured:
    All "Checked", "Checked", "Checked"

The harvest works. I only do one run. I can search and view the metadata
but I can't edit it as 'admin'.

If I login as 'admin' and select all the harvested metadata (11) and
then change owner to 'admin' and group 'All' I still can't edit the
metadata records.

I notice the following in the catalogue.out file:

2012-03-01 07:37:15,814 ERROR [jeeves.service] - (C) Exc :
ResourceNotFoundEx : Resource not found
2012-03-01 07:37:18,300 ERROR [jeeves.service] - Exception when
executing service

executing service
2012-03-01 07:38:32,963 ERROR [jeeves.service] - (C) Exc :
ResourceNotFoundEx : Resource not found

Does this mean that there is a bug in the software or am I doing
something wrong? If the latter does anyone know what I need to do to
allow me to edit the harvested metadata?

Many thanks in advance to any help anyone can halp me.

John Hockaday

Hi John,

Is the metadata record in the old ANZMETA format? (I'm guessing not but maybe helpful to ask) If it is then you should convert it to ISO19115/19139 ANZLIC as the old ANZMETA format doesn't have an XSD (that I know of) and hence those records cannot be edited in GeoNetwork.

Cheers,
Simon

Hi Simon,

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Yes, the metadata is in the old
ANZLIC "anzmeta" XML format. I will apply an XSL when I harvest to see
it this fixes the problem.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Thanks to Simon P. I'm getting close. I can now edit the metadata
records and add a WMS entry. Unfortunately when I try to connect to the
WMS I get the following error:

"There was an error connecting to the Web Map Service, please check the
URL"

The URL is: http://www.indexgeo.com.au/cgi-bin/wms-location

and I can get valid content from it using the URL:

http://www.indexgeo.com.au/cgi-bin/wms-location?request=GetCapabilities

The WMS service is version 1.1.0.

My XML entry in the metadata record is:

<gmd:MD_Distribution>
  <gmd:distributionFormat>
    <gmd:MD_Format>
      <gmd:name>
        <gco:CharacterString>GIF images.</gco:CharacterString>
      </gmd:name>
      <gmd:version>
        <gco:CharacterString>none</gco:CharacterString>
      </gmd:version>
    </gmd:MD_Format>
  </gmd:distributionFormat>
  <gmd:transferOptions>
    <gmd:MD_DigitalTransferOptions>
      <gmd:onLine>
        <gmd:CI_OnlineResource>
          <gmd:linkage>

<gmd:URL>http://www.indexgeo.com.au/cgi-bin/wms-location</gmd:URL>
          </gmd:linkage>
          <gmd:protocol>
            <gco:CharacterString>OGC:WMS</gco:CharacterString>
          </gmd:protocol>
          <gmd:description>
            <gco:CharacterString>OGC Web Map
Service</gco:CharacterString>
          </gmd:description>
          <gmd:function>
        </gmd:CI_OnlineResource>
      </gmd:onLine>
    </gmd:MD_DigitalTransferOptions>
  </gmd:transferOptions>
</gmd:MD_Distribution>

The entry in the catalogue.out file is:

Has anybody seen anything like this before? Does anyone know how I can
fix this error?

Thanks.
