[GeoNetwork-users] can't reach geonetwork main page through symbolic link

Hi,

I'm deploying GeoNetwork to a hosted site via SSH. To make the installation
available to multiple sites, I've installed GN in the site's superdirectory
(/home/username/geonetwork) and placed a symbolic link to the GN install
folder in the site directory (/home/username/sitename). Gast runs, and
reports running at location null on port 80.

First question: Is this the proper location for the installation setup
described above? I've tried specifying the website name in the Config
options as outlined in the user manual, but the option never seems to save.
As soon as I enter the info, save the configuration, close Gast and reopen,
it shows again that it's running at location null on port 80.

With this setup I can also access the user manuals in the geonetwork folder
via the web. Trying to access the GN main page from
www.sitename.com/geonetwork/web/geonetwork/srv/en/main.home however gives a
404 error. I've confirmed that start-geonetwork.sh was run before this, and
even tried manually triggering start.jar to make sure that jetty was on.
Both ran without error but did not resolve the 404 error.

Second question: Any tips on troubleshooting the 404 error?

Thanks,
Chris
