Hi Richard, I'm currently working on harvesting GetCapabilities document
from WMS/WFS service. This will not be linked to GeoServer, it will
harvest capabilities from service supporting WMS, WFS or WCS spec.
a mapping from the GetCapabilities document is defined to produce :
- one metadata for the service (using ISO19119)
- n metadata for all layers/FeatureType available in that service (ISO19139)
It will use the same mechanism as the harvesting for other sources (ie.
CSW, OAI, ...).
I will post more detail on the devel mailing list soon (next week), a
page on the wiki will be available in the R&D section. I hope to be able
to make a proposal for an improvement in january. I work on that with
Pierre who made some work on ISO19119.
I also have a question to the list, In GeoNetwork we have a list of
categories by default. Where does this list come from ? ISO ? ...
Cheers

Hello All,
My group is planning to move a WFS and WMS to Geoserver. So far so good,
I have both services running smoothly on a development machine. We have
also been asked to use Geonetwork to catalogue our services. I'm a
little stuck at the moment.
I searched the user mailing list archives and came across a short thread
dated April 10th of this year that said that the next version could
extract data from WFS. Is extracting data what I want to do? Or do I
want to add metadata?
Here is our old catalogue: http://www.gemstat.org/owscat/index.jsp
It's very simple and did the job but I would like to move it to
something that is currently maintained and works well with Geoserver.
Any tips, suggests or links is the right direction would be much
appreciated
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Richard Simms
