[GeoNetwork-users] Categories search,

Dear Prestige,

I also added new categories to the GeoNetwork installation (v. 2.2) I'm
working with and no problems occur. Could you describe in more details the
steps you followed to add the categolries? It might help to understand what
happens to you.

Thank you,
Patrizia

Greetings, I have added a couple of categories to geonetwork but they
dont see to work when I click to search for data using categories. Is there
anything I need to do besides simple adding a new category to make them
active?

  Regards

Dear Patrizia,

i have added them using the category management interfaces, by add new
category and deleted all the previous ones. i have just checked the database
and have seen that the new categories have been inserted, but not sure why
data can't be categorized according to the new categories. The small caps
are not working either.

Regards
Prestige

Hello Prestige, Patrizia,

I'm having the same problem.

I created a new category (checked also the localization options). Then I
assigned 6 records to this category by harvesting. When I search all
(without any search criteria), I can see (and check) that the records have
been assigned to (only) my new category. However, when I search by "Advanced
Search" on only my new category, it doesn't return any results. Same goes
for the left pane "Categories" (in the default install), when I click on
the new category, it doesn't return anything.

btw, I'm using GN2.4.2 without any modifications.

Anyone any ideas on how I can resolve this?

Hello Girum,

Thank you very much! That worked like a charm!

I'm working btw with an Oracle 11g DB and Windows Server 2003.

Kind regards,

Sidney

In that case I had the same problem with Geonetwork 2.4.2, but I
overcome the problem by using a category name with all small cases. For
example a new category named 'Ethiopia' didn't work - but a category
with the same name but with all small cases 'ethiopia' worked perfectly.

I suggested this to another person but it didn't work for him.
I tried it both on embeded and MySQL databases. And OS is Windows 2000
Advanced Server.
