[GeoNetwork-users] Changing the port number - put all procedure into the GAST in future version?

Dear Users/developers,

Today I had to change the default port that Geonetwork uses (8080) and
discovered it was not so simple as I had to hand edit an xml configuration file.

These are steps I had to do:

1) In the GAST I changed the jetty port number.

2) Started geonetwork logged in as the admin user, went to system configuration and
changed the geonetwork port.

3) I then stopped/started geonetwork but found that the map of the world
was not loading in the map viewer. I then seached the mail forum for a fix and found that you needed
to change the port number in the file geonetwork/web/intermap/WEB-INF/intermap/mapservers.xml.
This got everthing working (thanks Jeroen for your email "Subject: Installing Geonetwork for the first time").

After doing all this I thought it would be easier if this could all be done in the GAST program. This way
you would not be editing any files (could be error prone) and you would have to worry about
stopping and starting geonetwork.

FYI I am running a modified version of Geonetwork v2.2.0 -svn revision 1153, using Jetty and McKoi db on a windows PC.

hi,

or maybe we could add it to the options at install time?

I'm also changing a GN's port number, however I do it before building the
installer. Files where I have changed the port number include:

jetty.xml
jetty.xml_with_geoserver
start-stdln.html
Settings.ddf
mapServers.xml
mapServers.xml_with_geoserver
editAreaXml.jsp
mainPreview.html
mainPreviewData.html
info.xml
info.xml_jpg

This seems an inordinate amount of work just to change the port number..

kind regards
