Hi everyone,
I am trying to install a test GeoNetwork installation on a remote FreeBSD
server. The jar installer requires a GUI, but I am having trouble with X11
and cannot get it to work... is there a way of installing the service from
the command line, through a .war distribution for example?
Has anyone tried to install GeoNetwork this way?
My installation is the following:
FreeBSD6.2 server, connection via SSH / SFTP
Apache2.2 host, using the mod_jk connector to Tomcat5.5
Cheers
Charles
Hi Charles, you should be able to do an install on another server.
And then copy/paste to your FreeBSD server, then :
- set up Tomcat /conf/server.xml
- check the Geoentwork config.xml (db if you are not using mckoi, and IPs).
If you don't change the node name that should work fine I think.
HTH.
Francois

Actually, there's another clean way:
- you can run a server installation locally and fill out all the required parameters that comply with your remote installation.
- The last install screen offers the option to store the installation script, which you should do
- Than, you copy the installer to the remote server and also the script (you can edit information in the script if you want in a text editor)
- The last step is to run the installer from the command line: java -jar geonetwork-installer.jar script.xml
This will do the command line installation
Ciao,
Jeroen
