[GeoNetwork-users] Connecting to online registries

Hi,

I raised this problem a while ago, but have been asked to look at it again
now, and try and understand whether there are bugs in geonetwork that need
resolving or whether the registry is in the wrong format for us to use...

I am trying to connect to this registry and upload it as a thesaurus:
http://registry-training.epimorphics.net/registry/def/ea/_ea_areas

If I use this URL directly, or if I use
http://registry-training.epimorphics.net/registry/def/ea-organization/ea_areas?_format=rdf
then geonetwork tries to download the home page rather than the rdf and
gives me an error about link tags.

If I download the rdf and upload it manually, then it uploads but doesn't
work for me (no records show up in the thesaurus browser). Previously
someone suggested this was down to missing language tags but I have asked
for them to be included.

When I look at both catalina.out and geonetwork.log I'm not seeing any
obvious errors, and I don't know how to debug this any further.

I have tried this with both geonetwork 2.10.4 and 3.1 (cloned from github)
and I get the same behaviour in both.

If there's still something wrong with the format of this registry then I'm
in a good position to get that changed. I'd also really like to know how I
can debug the issue further myself, as I'm not sure where to look for more
information.

Regards

Jo

Hi, I would say that GeoNetwork does not know about org:Organization and
only take care of skos:Concept like sample thesaurus which are provided.

So I would try to mimic the sample thesaurus structure or update the
ThesaurusManager to take care of http://www.w3.org/ns/org# elements.

Hi Francois,

I'm not sure that I can ask the owners of the repository to change the
structure that much- and there are other repositories that we would like to
connect to as well, with the same problem. What would be required to update
the Thesaurus Manager? I mean, is it a lot of work? I could perhaps look at
finding sponsorship for a fix.

Thanks

Jo
