[GeoNetwork-users] Connecting to registers

Hi List,

I have a requirement to connect to this register:
http://environment.data.gov.uk/registry/def/ea-organization/_ea_areas from
geonetwork, for use as a thesaurus. When I try and connect to it in the
thesaurus manager it doesn't seem to work, so I assume that means it's in
the wrong format for geonetwork to use. I can possibly go and ask for it to
be enhanced so that geonetwork can connect, but I wanted to check before I
asked- so can someone please confirm whether it's usable or not?

It might be the case that we have to update the rdf library (sesame) in GN, it's quite old.

Hi Paul,

Yes I did- I added that URL as a thesaurus in the thesaurus manager, but it
came up with a blank notification window, saying "error" with an "OK"
button. I could dig into the logs if that would be helpful?

The error that I get when connecting to this URL in the thesaurus manager
is:
Exception when executing service
2015-03-30 11:17:50,437 ERROR [jeeves.service] - (C) Exc :
org.jdom.input.JDOMParseException: Error on line 24 of document
file:/tmp/tomcat6-tomcat6-tmp/thesaurus3256456260920693770.rdf: The element
type "link" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</link>".

When I look at the rdf file in the tmp folder it's a copy of the homepage,
not an actual rdf.

What do you mean with "it's a copy of the homepage".
Maybe try to download the rdf locally and upload it as a thesaurus.

I downloaded the file from
http://environment.data.gov.uk/registry/def/ea-organization/ea_areas?_format=rdf
and
used the Upload file feature. The file looks uploaded properly, but no
content is displayed. Need to check further as the file seem not having any
language attributes, not sure if that works well with GeoNetwork.

Thanks for testing.

@paul the temp rdf file that geonetwork is storing when it gets it from the
URL directly is not an rdf at all, it's the homepage for the registry.

@jose thanks- I had tried that approach too, with the same response. I have
set the log level to debug for the thesaurus, is there anything else I
should do to help debug the problem?

I'm wondering if I should submit a bug about Geonetwork not connecting to
the online registry properly, as discussed, or whether I should approach
the owners of the repository and ask them to include the language tags?
