[GeoNetwork-users] CSW getrepositoryitem operation

Apologies if this is a double post, I had problems subscribing....

Hi,

does anyone know if the CSW getrepositoryitem operation is being developed?
I haven't found any tickets in trackit relating to the operation but have
seen some google results such as
http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/SF-net-SVN-geonetwork-3616-sandbox-3-0-x-geonetwork-web-ebrim-src-main-java-org-geonetwork-webservic2-td2810980.html
this and
http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/Build-failed-in-Hudson-geonetwork-services-ebrim-geonetwork-services-ebrim-582-td2330940.html
this .

I am using Geonetwork 2.6.0, and the CSW test operations do not include
getrepositoryitem. I am a little confused as the OGC ebRIM profile of CSW
is http://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/index.php?artifact_id=27092 here
and it says the getrepositoryitem is mandatory.

any ideas? will I be waiting until version 3.0.x?

cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

The GetRepositoryItem operation is part of the ebRIM Application Profile for
CSW and Geonetwork 2.6.0 does not implement that profile. It only implements
the ISO19115/ISO19119 Application Profile for CSW. Thus, you will not be
able to perform such an operation on the last stable version of Geonetwork.

FYI, the version 3.0.x of GeoNetwork (which is a sandbox) implements
the ebRIM profile.

Cheers,

Mathieu

hi Alex,

GetRepositoryItem is a CSW operation in the CSW/ebRIM specs. GeoNetwork in
its current release does not have a CSW/ebRIM interface.

That being said, in the as yet unreleased 3.x branch of GeoNetwork, there is
an implementation of a CSW/ebRIM interface (see http://geonetwork.tv/ebrim/).
It currently has implementations of all CSW/ebRIM operations except Harvest
and Transaction. In short, it works by creating ebRIM registry objects for
each ISO19139 metadata that goes in GeoNetwork. Then you can use the
CSW/ebRIM operations to retrieve the ebRIM registry metadata, and in the
case of GetRepositoryItem, the ISO19139 metadata.

You could grab the code at
https://geonetwork.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/geonetwork/sandbox/3.0.x.

If you like more information on this please contact me

Kind regards
Heikki Doeleman
