Base on the above, I had done some documentation as well on branding GeoNetwowk and you can refer to: https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/wiki/Infosrvices/GeoNetworkBranding
Note: It is best to have the new images having the same image name as the old one (I'm missing one more changes for failed login page - still showing the old images - as I'm using different name for the new images - will update the doc when I have the time to find out the exact location).
