Hi all,
I am very very new to this and am just starting to install all the necessary components to get myself up and running. Anyway to cut a long story short, I am having trouble trying to download GeoNetwork v2.6.3 file geonetwork.war
When I go to : http://sourceforge.net/projects/geonetwork/files/GeoNetwork_opensource/v2.6 it has a readme.txt, an *.exe, a *.jar and a *.war.
I download the war, but when it saves it - it's a zip file (extension).
Then when you unzip it - it has all the folders (but no actual war). I
think the zip is meant to be a war. Maybe it's my OS (Windows 7) that changes it to a
zip or maybe the link to war is a zip.
I know there is a later version but I have step by step instructions for this version and the other software e.g. Oracle, java runtime, apache tomcat.
So I really need the geonetwork.war file for v2.6.3 or some ideas?

I tried with 2.6.3 and 2.6.4 and for me the downloaded files have the war
extension.
Rename your zip file with war extension and deploy in tomcat or the servlet
container that you use and check that GeoNetwork starts properly.
Other option is to download the jar/exe installers, these installers run
GeoNetwork with jetty servlet container.
