Hello. Now also in our case the small map is empty, even though previously
there was some basic World map. I think we haven't changed anything... I am
not even able to add map layers in the bigger Map Viewer. The stdout log
says:

The Intermap log repeats somewhat similar messages. Our GN version in 2.4.3
with Tomcat. The PostGIS database was made in 2.4.2 and updated with the
couple of settings to make the titles visible.

I just tested with 2.4.3 version and could load the layers in intermap from
http://wms.jpl.nasa.gov/wms.cgi (tried with National Boundaries and
Coastlines).
Can you check the intermap.log file if reports more verbose logging?
